Adorable Packaging On Lancome's New Juicy Tube

Lancome has released a new Juicy Tube color exclusively for Sephora called "Rose Fishnets." The color is a bit too pink for me, but how cute is the package? It looks like little fishnet tights on the tube. I want to buy it just so I can look at it on my bathroom counter.

Vibrating Mascara? Um...Ok.

Lancome is introducing "Oscillation" today. They are calling it a "vibrating power mascara." Supposedly, you press the button and "experience a breakthrough sensation in application."

Is it just me, or does "vibrating mascara" seem to mean the same thing as "horrifying raccoon eye mess on my face"?

A vibrating mascara just sounds like a bad idea to me. But I haven't actually tried it yet, I could be wrong. Maybe it's way cool and worth the $34.

Today only, Lancome is selling a "limited first edition" of Oscillation. Get it while you can, I guess.

Please, Dr. Gross, Just A Tiny Little Discount?

Several months ago I received a sample of MD Skincare's All In One Tinted Moisturizer with my Sephora order. I finally tried it out a couple if days ago and abso-freaking-lutely loved it. It is the best tinted moisturizer I have ever tried. The color and coverage were lovely. It was super light, it felt great on my skin and looked completely natural. I didn't need any other moisture under it and SPF is built in.

"Self," I said to myself, "I have to have this wonderful little product."

So I cozied up to my laptop and clicked onto Sephora. And realized that MD Skincare is really expensive. 1.7 ounces of amazing tinted moisturizer runs $44. So I had to have another little talk with myself.

"Self," I said to myself sternly, "Your husband will kill you if you spend $44 out of your joint checking for tinted moisturizer."

And I was right. I can't possibly justify spending that kind of money on something like then when I have no actual discernable source of personal income.

But if you readers have the means, and love tinted moisturizer, you must pick up MD Skincare All In One. Truly, it's wonderful.

This Is The Last Nail Polish Post For A While, I Promise

Just had to post this because we love Spongebob Squarepants at our house. Rescue Beauty Lounge has released pre-fall colors inspired by Spongebob and his pals. My four year old got the biggest kick out of this!

The colors are actually very pretty -- I would definitely wear Starfish Patrick.

$18 each and available here.

Good Will Nail Polish Hunting

Rihanna in neon yellow polish. China Glaze?

So, yellow nail polish is really hot this summer and I really want a bottle to do my toes. I know that some of the higher end polish brands have really popular yellow shades right now, but I figured I could head over to my local drug store and find something cheap and bright, right?

Wrong.

Wet N' Wild, nothing. Rimmel, nada. N.Y.C., zip. It looked like N.Y.C. did have a yellow at some point, but it was sold out.

I just wanted a .99 cheapie bottle that would give me a close approximation of Chanel's L.A. Sunrise from a distance of five feet. Is that too much to ask for?

Apparently.

Since there is no Sephora or Ulta or Macy's within a 50 mile radius of me, and since my local resources have completely failed me, I'm gonna have to find something online. These are the shades I'm considering, if I can find them.

LA Sunrise from the Robertson Collection. $25 is a lot to spend on a polish. I love Chanel and for a color like Madness that I will wear over and over again I'll fork it out. But for a trendy color like this, probably not. Find it here.

Solar Power from China Glaze. This has been one hot color lately because Rihanna has been photographed wearing it several times. Really cute, and so cheap that I would love to get my hands on a bottle, but I'll probably have to go to eBay on this. Especially since the China Glaze site does not have a list of retailers. Maybe I'll check over at All Lacquered Up, I'm sure she has the scoop.

MAC Phosphor Nail Lacquer-- I love this color and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it on this blog before, because it's just such a pretty and iridescent shade from the Neo Sci Fi collection. Sold out on the MAC website, but check with your local MAC counter. At $11 not too too expensive.

Yellow Fever from Rescue Beauty Lounge is a bit out of my price range at $18, but I love the color. It's more lemon than bumblebee and not so neon. Cute, cute, cute. Get it on the Rescue Beauty Lounge website.

The "It" Color from OPI is a more orangey yellow, but OPI can usually be had for around $10, so it's not a budget breaker. I'll have to look for it in the nail place if I manage to get a pedicure sometime in the next month.

Shorty Pants from Essie may end up being my yellow. It's bright and summery, only $8 and available on the Essie website. Plus, I love Essie polish, I've always had great luck with their shades.

Wish me luck, I'm off to hunt down some yellow polish!

Hold The Phone

I just stopped by Sephora to look at some nail polish and there is an announcement on the home page that OPI is teaming up with Sephora to create a new line of nail polish. I'm hyperventilating a little bit.

I have deeply loved OPI nail polish since my days as a manicurist, and to see them working in conjunction with The Mothership on some new (and hopefully less expensive) shades is exciting. 54 colors in all are set to debut. Cannot wait!

Sephora Roundup

I haven't been on Sephora.com lately, mostly to avoid the temptation. But they've finally lured me over with an email that features leopard print stick on eyeshadow, and I had to have the details on that. Once I was there I saw several new things that must go on my bathroom counter immediately (see, this is why I try to avoid the website).

ColorOn Professional EyeEnvy Kits contains peel-off mineral cream eye shadows that (they say) fit every eye size and shape and can be applied in minutes. Eye shadow stickers. Very interesting concept. The one i'm showing here is the exotic collection, and it's a bit over the top, but some of the other kits contain really pretty colors that could be worn out to dinner or to a party. I would totally try it, but I don't think I could pull off the Zebra pattern. $25

The Lash Stash is a collection of mini mascaras put together by Sephora so that we makeup junkies can test drive several brands before making a purchase. LOVE IT. The kit includes travel sizes of Benefit BADgal, Blinc Kiss Me, LORAC Publicity Stunt Lashes, Smashbox Bionic Mascara, Stila Multi-Effect Mascara, Sephora Brand Lash Plumper, and Too Faced Lash Injection. $28

The Laura Gellar Smoke Signals Kit contains everything you need to get the perfect smoky eye / nude lip look. There are a lot of smoky eye kits out there but I particularly like the shades in this one, plus it comes with a powder eye pencil and a lipstick that looks to be a really good nude. All for $32.

Sephora Brand Nail Patches are stick on nail polish patches (more stickers!) that are perfect for those times when you need an on the go manicure. I can't count how many times I've gone to a party or out to lunch with friends and wished I had taken some time to polish my scruffy nails. These nail patches would be so handy in those instances. And they don't look super tacky the way these types of products tend to be.

Sephora says, "Just stick on the patches and go—it's that easy. Select the appropriate size for your nail, pull off the clear protective strip, and place the rounded side at the nail base. Smooth onto the nail surface, and remove the surplus by folding the nail sticker under the nail. The excess easily tears away. Remove the nail patch with traditional nail polish remover. "

No drying time! $10

Philosophy Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser is the foaming version of Philosophy's famous Purity Made Simple. I've gone on at length in this blog about my love for Philosophy skin care, so I won't elaborate here, but I'm sure many philosophyites are thrilled to see the debut of this cleanser. $21.50 and $34.50.

So there you have it, a roundup of some cool new must-haves from The Mothership. I have to close my laptop now and walk away.

Fake Tan Update

Whilst I'm on the subject of tanning...Several posts back I told you all how much I loved Loreal's Glam Bronze leg tanning spray. I still love love love it.

A couple of weeks ago I tried it in conjunction with a sunless tanner with impressive results. I used the sunless tanner for a 2 or 3 days (neutrogena I think) and then, on the day my legs were to be bare, I used the Glam Bronze on top of my sunless tan. It looked so good! Nice and bronze and really natural looking. I used it, not only on my legs, but on my arms, shoulders and chest as well. I used a seperate bronzing product on my face . The Glam Bronze deepened and evened out the sunless tan on my legs. Everyone mentioned how tan I was and my mother-in-law, who knows all about my faux tan habit, said, "What did you use on your legs. It looks natural. I have to get that."

The only thing that worries me is that it is difficult to find on the internet, and appears nowhere on the Loreal site. Which means it will probably disappear soon. I'll have to go to Target and stockpile all the cans I can find.

If you're looking for it, it's called L'Oreal Glam Bronze Micro-Fine Spray Foundation For Legs. Good luck!

Safe Bubbles For Moms and Kids

My girls love bubble baths, but I was advised by our pediatrician and an ER doc that bubble baths are not good for kids. The irritating soaps and chemicals in them can cause problems in their little areas. So for the past couple of years I've put the kibosh on bubble baths amid lots of grumbling from my 4 year old. But recently, I was in our Super Target looking through the California Baby products and noticed that they have some bubble baths. Knowing that California Baby is committed to all natural ingredients, I took a closer look. The bottle says:

Children and adults love bubble baths, so we make them safe. Our special bubbling formula contains mild vegetable-derived bubbling agents, enriched with a nourishing herbal complex that works to protect delicate skin. Non-drying, extremely biodegradable bubble bath strictly avoids the use of synthetic fragrances and harsh bubbling agents. This product was developed to avoid irritation (that is typical of other bubble baths) and we never use Sodium lauryl sulfate, DEA, or numbing agents.

Sounded good, so I picked up a bottle. At $11.99 it's kind of expensive for a kids bubble bath, but the bottle I took home is specifically for "Overtired and Cranky" kids. If it calms my kids down before bed, it's worth the money.

We've used it a few times now and love it. It bubbles really nicely for not having any synthetic ingredients and the scent is light and herbally delicious. And, I'll tell ya, it does calm the kids down. Plus, you can combine some of the California Baby essential oils with the bubble bath to create your own aromatherapy mix. I would definitely take a calming bath with these bubbles. From the package it looks life they're safe to use in our whirlpool tub (regular bubbles overflow making a huge mess in the bathroom floor).

Try it out if you or your kids love bubble baths. I highly recommend California Baby products. For newborns, I think Cetaphil lotion and wash is best, but when you need a really mild shampoo and body wash for your older babies and kids, you can't go wrong with California Baby.

More Nail Polish Than You Could Ever Use

$45 for a 2 oz jar at Sephora.

It's My New Fave

As of about an hour ago I have a new favorite leg bronzer. Last year I couldn't live without Neutrogena Sheer Body Tint for all my bronzing needs. I would mix the bronzing foam in with lotion and use it on my whole body.

Well, unfortunately, Sheer Body Tint is kind of hard to find. I had run out of all my spare cans, and needed something to replace it so that I could wear a dress to a thing in a couple of days and not frighten people with the reflection from my legs. So, I picked up a can of the only othe viable option at our local super target, Loreal Glam Bronze Spray for Legs.

I took a few minutes to test it out a few minutes ago and BINGO, it worked like a charm. I was afraid to try a spray because of disastrous experience that I had with a Sally Hansen spray bronzer a few years ago, but Glam Bronze is light years ahead of the Sally Hansen. When you spray it on and just leave it it looks funny, too matte and unnatural. But if you spray it on and then rub it in, it spreads out to a nice consistency and color. I'm going to try a combo of self tanner and the Glam Bronze spray and see how that works out. I'll let you know.

Chanel Opens Tomorrow on Robertson

For all you lucky LA based shopaholics, tomorrow is the opening of Chanel's new accessories boutique on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood.

The boutique will present a tightly edited selection of the season's pieces, including ready-to-wear, fine jewelry, accessories and cosmetics.

Said Barbara Cirkva, president of Chanel's fashion division,"Robertson will focus, say, on the hottest bag of the season and have it in three sizes and seven colors. We will take an idea and explode it."

The new the store will carry a limited-edition line of four eye-catching nail polish shades: Melrose (a shocking pink), Rodeo Drive (soft purple), L.A. Sunrise (primary yellow) and L.A. Sunset (warm tangerine). The bright hues make up the Robertson Collection, sell for $25 each and are exclusive to the new location.

The Chanel accessories boutique will be a perfect match for Robertson, considering that the young fashionistas that flock to the trendy shopping district often mix Chanel bags, ballet flats and sunglasses with their Kitson couture.

Robertson is all set to go uptown with the arrival of the Chanel store, as well as the D&G and Ralph Lauren outposts that will be opening there soon.

If you are geographically challenged and can't get over to Robertson to visit Chanel, you can sign up on a waiting list at Chanel for access to the Robertson Nail Lacquer shades when they are released to website in July. Click here to sign up...
